\nin a dream,
\nnot looking any older,
\nfrom a desk behind hers,
\na blond-haired boy
\nwith the eyes of a girl,
\nis uncovering snakes\u2019 dwellings
\nto her in entirely
\nhuman places,
\nin cracks of house walls, doorposts,
\nwindow frames, inconspicuous,
\nyet not at all neglected
\nhiding places of a dwelling.
\nHe was wearing them like trinkets around his ankles and let the short bodies
\nwith their ink-blotted triangular heads
\nmove ahead of him
\nthrough cuts in the gate,
\nas his predecessors.
\nWhether due to reminders of childhood
\nor due to his only captivating skill,
\neach corner is now looking like
\na possible curves of their bodies,
\nintoxicated by the winter slumber
\ncurled up in a noose of threat.
\nWho sends one on a snake\u2019s trail
\nhas made of the eyes a debtor
\nfor all the overly caution and
